Don’t Miss the JSAHR Diversity Job Fair 2006

The JSAHR (Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources) is sponsoring its 9th Annual Diversity Job Fair, Tuesday, October 24, 2006, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Sheraton of Eatontown, Route 35 at Industrial Way, Eatontown, N.J. Parking and admission are free. “Job Hunting Tips for Tough Times,” a FREE mini-seminar, will be presented at 10:00 a.m.
Candidates seeking jobs at any level from entry to mid-, professional, and management levels are welcome. More than 60 New Jersey companies, especially those in Ocean and Monmouth counties, are expected to participate, offering opportunities in such careers as accounting, banking, clerical, computers, construction, sales, healthcare, hotels, restaurants, security, IT, and the sciences, among others.

Florek to Speak at Veterans' Rally

Dr. Walter Florek, a clinical psychologist and director of A & W Psychology Services, Lakewood, will speak about Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome at “Operation Firing for Effect,” a rally for veterans, September 6, 2006, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Washington Park, 20 Washington Place, Newark. He joins Bill Cosby, a United States Navy veteran, in drawing attention to the plight of current and future veterans.
The rally is taking place to urge politicians to support of medical treatment of veterans, including funding of the Veterans Administration, homeless veterans, and Native American veterans; a lifting of the hiring freeze of VA medical providers; hiring VA claim writers to help veterans file claims, and secure benefits for present and future veterans, among others.
Dr. Florek said, “It is essential that the government continue to meet the needs of veterans who have previously served in the armed forces and those currently returning from war.”
Dr. Florek is the co-founder of the Center for Post Traumatic Studies, Lakewood, NJ. He is the former director of the Veterans’ Administration Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program, Manhattan, New York, and the Veterans’ Evaluation and Treatment Program, Montrose, New York.
Dr. Florek received his B.S. from Rutgers University; and his M.A. and Ph.D. from St. John’s University, New York. He is a member of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the American Psychological Association, the New Jersey Psychological Association, the Monmouth-Ocean Psychological Association, and the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce.
