Managing in a Multi-Generational Workplace - February JSAHR Meeting

The one-size-fits-all mentality in managing employees can no longer apply as four, and soon to be five, generations take their place in the workforce, each with their wants and needs, communication styles, attire preferences, family-work balances, authority issues, and collaboration skills, among others. Drs. Don Swanson and Alan Fazzari will guide attendees through the eyes of each generation—the traditionalists, boomers, X generation, and millennials at the JSAHR (Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources) meeting, Thursday, February 14, 2008, 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Jumping Brook Country Club, 210 Jumping Brook Road, Neptune, N.J.

Dr. Alan Fazzari, the runner up for SHRM’s Human Capital Business Leader of the Year award for his work leading a Six Sigma Quality initiative, has held positions in human resources for more than 26 years. He received his doctorate from Rutgers, his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and an MA from Montclair State University.

Dr. Don R. Swanson, a professor of communication and chairman of the department of communication at Monmouth University, has designed and conducted training programs and worked as an executive coach, mediator, and consultant for the past 30 years. He has also served as the director of communication for U.S. congressional campaigns and coach to attorney and witnesses as a member of the American Society of Trial Consultants.

The registration fee and a full buffet breakfast is $25.00 for JSAHR members; $35.00 for nonmembers; $15.00 for those in transition; and an additional $5.00 for walk-ins. To register, call Kathi Evans, JSAHR administrator, at 732-244-8892 or e-mail jsahradmin@atbcelebrations.com. JSAHR is a Superior Merit Award Chapter of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management).
